Mailbird API or Plugin Interface

4 votes

The utility of Mailbird can be taken to a whole new level if it is opened up to developers in the community. By exposing Mailbird functionality through an API, developers can write plugins to provide features that were never thought of, or weren't popular enough to be implemented officially. Integration with thousands of other tools suddenly becomes possible and realistic.

The community aspect is also a big deal, as this would encourage people to join and participate. Additionally, if in-house plugins/integrations are converted to open source, they can receive new features and fixes from the community through pull requests.

This is no small task. It may require significant time and redesign work, but think of all the possibilities.
